Software Engineer - Simulation

Location: AB Dynamics, Bradford on Avon UK

An opening exists to work within the advanced Vehicle Driving Simulator (aVDS) team. Programming in a real time environment and interfacing with both hardware and software. This role will also involve the integration of vehicle dynamics modelling packages, tyre models and virtual traffic systems into the aVDS project.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high quality/efficient code to add more world class functionality to our systems
  • Integrate commonly used vehicle, tyre and steering system models, ADAS test software, and traffic modules into the AB Dynamics software tool chain.
  • Integrate hardware and software in the loop covering a multitude of real-time systems
  • Understand 3rd party modelling software and integrate through API's
  • Assist with versioning, testing, and release practises
  • Perform and support demonstration of new software functionality to customers
  • Support project engineers during commissioning and delivery of simulators (potentially including training support) 



Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Degree qualified or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of C++
  • Interest and ability to learn new software packages
  • Understanding of full code development life cycle


Beneficial

  • Experience in creating Dynamic Link Libraries
  • C# knowledge
  • Experience in rFpro, 3D visualisation
  • Use of development tools: Jira, Confluence, Git
  • Simulation/driving simulator experience
  • Knowledge of real-time systems (Concurrent Real-Time, dSPACE)
  • Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink/Linux
  • Familiarity with Hardware in the Loop/Software in the Loop 

Willingness to travel and work abroad would be a benefit, but would only constitute a very small part of the role
