Senior Buyer - 18month FTC

We have a vacancy for a Buyer to support the purchasing department in procuring components, considering price, quality and delivery, and ensuring stock levels for the relevant product lines are maintained to achieve operational goals.

Please note, this role is on a 18-month, fixed-term contract

The selected candidate must adhere to company procedures and policies and look for continuous improvement opportunities in the team and role.


  • Purchasing electrical and mechanical components for given products/projects
  • Resolve any delivery or quality issues in an efficient manner to prevent delays in the delivery of product to our customer or manufacturing teams
  • Forecasting levels of demand for the products to meet the business needs and maintain stock at the appropriate levels
  • Build strong working relationships with current key suppliers and improve the supply chain where applicable
  • Confidently liaise and negotiate with suppliers
  • Confidently liaise and negotiate with internal stakeholders 
  • Ensure company, ISO and EHS policies are adhered to

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience


  • Minimum 5 years business experience gained in buying
  • Experience of leading a small team
  • Previous experience of working in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation
  • Excellent face-to-face and telephone conversation skills
  • Solid background in managing material flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries 
  • Able to evaluate and monitor key supplier performance and implement the necessary corrective action


  • Relevant purchasing qualifications in CIPS or equivalent
  • An understanding of lean principles and continuous improvement
  • Good understanding in mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of machining and processes
  • A background in purchasing within an engineering organisation
  • Experience working with ISO9001 and 14001 environmental standards
  • Lead/internal auditing to ISO9001 standard

  • Good MS Office skills, particularly Excel and Word

  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
