Buyer

Location: AB Dynamics, Bradford on Avon UK

As our business continues to grow at a significant pace, we are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our Procurement team on a full-time, permanent basis.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Buyer you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end supply chain management duties including demand management, strategic supplier sourcing, contract negotiation and ongoing supplier relationship management. You will be reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, but you will be also expected to work alongside respective Project Managers reporting on the progress of procurement activities.

You will be joining a small and friendly Procurement team based in our HQ in Bradford-on-Avon. This is an opportunity to grow the skills you already have and add real value in an exciting technology-led company.


Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned stock category to ensure adequate inventory levels
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce inventory in line with the organization’ objectives
  • Assist in demand forecast for the products to meet business needs and to maintain stock at the appropriate levels
  • Interpret and execute raw material and sub-assembly purchases according to demand, ensuring ERP procurement parameters are set up correctly and material is ordered on time
  • Review the accuracy of master data in ERP and provide corrective action recommendations
  • Capture specific project requirements and build these into supply chain requirements
  • Design a supply solution to meet project requirements and to maximize performance whilst minimizing risk and complexity
  • Manage sourcing and tendering processes in accordance with agreed project deliverables
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to ensure that the most cost effective supply solutions are obtained
  • Understand contractual agreements to ensure that the Company's commercial position is best protected and is properly reflected within formal subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Ensure that all technical and quality requirements are fully satisfied and that all material and service requirements are supplied in accordance with Project schedules
  • Establish supplier performance monitoring and development initiatives
  • Liaise with Operational Project Managers to ensure requirements are executed on time and any identified issues are communicated and resolved timely
  • Ensure the company, ISO and EHS policies are adhered to


Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in procurement and supply chain function
  • Background in an engineering organization
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Positive “can do” attitude and willingness to learn

You will need to be able to work under your own initiative and complete tasks on time within dynamic environment. You will be an innovative team player, detail orientated and with the capacity to see the bigger picture. 

Desirable

  • Experience in the use of MRP systems
  • CIPS Level 4 or above 
  • Familiar with Lean and Six Sigma principles
