Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Lead Embedded Control Engineer to join a team developing novel autonomous vehicle control systems for the off-highway and defence markets.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for the real-time control algorithms used to drive and operate a wide range of robots which control autonomous vehicles.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead all control algorithm evaluation, development, testing and documentation activities.
  • Develop simulations in MBSE tools, such as Matlab/Simulink to verify the correct control response under both normal and all fault conditions.
  • Implement the algorithm in C/C++ and develop full coverage test plans and test cases to verify against simulated results.
  • Develop hardware test rigs in conjunction with the mechatronics lead and perform in vehicle testing in conjunction with the project engineers.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in Control Systems Engineering. Candidates with significant (6 years+) Industrial and technology commercialisation experience preferred.
  • Expert knowledge and application of control theory applied to dynamic control of robots, vehicles or other mechanical systems.
  • Experience of defining control system functional, performance and safety requirements and their verification.
  • Fluent MATLAB/Simulink user.
  • Experience developing commercial embedded software for control systems.
