Track Testing Group – Support and Calibration Engineer

AB Dynamics, Inc. North American HQ is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to assist with training and support of our growing automotive customer base. The position requires travel throughout North America and possible trips to the United Kingdom.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Work closely with automotive customer base: manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers, regulatory agencies, commercial test tracks

·         Develop a thorough understanding of ABD products and systems.  Intensive training and a cooperative workplace will be provided

·         Deliver technical support via e-mail and telephone

·         Provide product specific training to users on the use of robots and ADAS targets

·         Fully document any/all problems found with ABD equipment

·         Fully document all customer requests for new features & improvements

·         Reproduce, investigate and resolve often complex technical issues, including the provision of debug advice and assistance to customers via telephone, email and on-line remote support both on-site and at customer locations

·         Test software releases for correct operation in a simulation environment or with ABD hardware on a test car

·         Work with the team to implement new vehicle regulatory testing standards into products, assist customers in the use of our software and systems to meet their dynamic test requirements

·         Support the sales process with verbal and written technical presentations as well as product demonstrations

·         Communicate with prospects, customers and users for information as it relates to future equipment and capability requirements and deliver proactive action to convert the information into user needs documentation, proposals and training documents

·         Setup, manage and operate a calibration lab that focuses on ABD robots and ADAS platforms using ABD developed calibration equipment and traceable measurement devices, data loggers, power supplies, force, torque, voltage, current and temperature instruments


Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience


  • A hands-on technical background

·         Confident and effective written and verbal communication skills

·         A pleasant, cooperative and responsible disposition

·         Bachelor of Engineering degree

·         Experience with measurement and calibration instrumentation

·         Experience with motion control systems

·         Comfortable with software and GUI interfaces, Ethernet and CAN communications

·         Willingness to travel, sometimes on short notice
