Mercedes has launched the 2017 E-class at a press event in Portugal, demonstrating some of the new technology which is included. The event made use of Mercedes' Guided Soft Target, supplied by AB Dynamics, to demonstrate the collision-avoidance technology built in to the new E-class.
Daimler has been a longstanding user of AB Dynamics track test equipment in developing its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), with early testing done using driverless robot systems supplied in 2008.
The Guided Soft Target (GST) allows engineers to recreate collision or near-miss scenarios without the risk of significant damage to the test vehicle.
