Industry magazine Bus and Coach Buyer were recently invited by Daimler to see its winter testing activities in Arvidsjaur, Sweden. Daimler buses are tested in arduous conditions down to minus 30 degrees centigrade or lower, and driven on a variety of tracks created especially on frozen lakes. 80cm of ice is all that's needed to support a fully-laden bus!
The resulting article provides some interesting insights into the types of testing being done to make buses safer.
Daimler uses AB Dynamics driving robots for these (and many other) tests, and the author quotes Daimler as saying that they are "absolutely top class measuring robots".
