China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) has been featured on a news broadcast by China Central Television (CCTV) showing ADAS testing for the first time. AEB (Autonomous emergency braking) test scenarios are shown and the broadcast features a suite of products from AB Dynamics.

Established in 1985 to meet China’s need of managing the automotive industry, CATARC is the centralized technical organization of the automotive industry and provides services to the industry, government and market such as standardization and technical regulations, product catalogue management and a data resources service. They also undertake testing and inspection as part of the C-NCAP, C-ECAP regulations.

CATARC has invested heavily in its testing capabilities including a couple of significant orders placed recently on AB Dynamics for driving robots and ADAS targets.

The video shows a car fitted out with AB Dynamics’ SR60 Torus steering robot and combined brake and accelerator robot (CBAR) so that the vehicle can be controlled to drive accurately and repeatedly to create desired scenarios. During the video, the car performs the AEB test using AB Dynamics’ Guided Soft Target (GST) and Soft Pedestrian Target (SPT) platforms.
