We recently demonstrated our automated driverless technology to test engineers and industry specialists at a high-profile event hosted by our Chinese distributor, Zeer, at the NAST proving ground in Wuhan. The event brought together approximately 70 attendees from a wide range of organisations, including vehicle manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers, test houses and research institutes. A further 2,000 participants joined remotely via a livestream.

The goal of the event was to demonstrate the latest advances in automating testing and explore opportunities for increased automation in vehicle development programmes. Visitors were given a live demonstration of the latest generation Halo and CBAR platforms, including the remote operation of standard driving robots in a fully driverless configuration. During this demonstration, the vehicle navigated NAST's durability tracks without a driver, showcasing the potential of automated testing to improve repeatability, efficiency and safety.
In collaboration with Racelogic's Vehicle Positioning System (VPS), the event also highlighted how AB Dynamics equipment can operate indoors using ultra-wideband positioning technology. This capability is particularly valuable in controlled test environments such as NAST's specialist tunnel facility, where lighting conditions can be precisely adjusted to support ADAS camera testing.
The live demonstration generated strong engagement from attendees, with particular interest in the application of driverless technology to ADAS validation. Throughout the day, Zeer streamed live 4K video from the vehicle as it completed driverless test scenarios, enabling online viewers to experience the demonstration remotely while reinforcing the maturity and capability of the technology.
On the event, Andrew Pick, Director, Track Test Systems at AB Dynamics, commented: "It was fantastic to see the technology demonstrated so soon after delivery and to witness the level of interest from both on-site and online participants. The event showcased how driverless testing can support the development of advanced vehicle systems while demonstrating the strength of the partnership between AB Dynamics, Zeer and NAST."
As demand for advanced driver assistance systems and automated vehicle technologies continues to grow, events such as this demonstrate the increasing importance of repeatable, efficient and scalable testing methods for vehicle manufacturers and testing organisations worldwide.
