AB Dynamics/DRI Soft Bicycle 360 now Euro NCAP approved

25.02.2026

AB Dynamics and Dynamic Research, Inc. (DRI) are delighted to announce that the Soft Bicycle 360 has been approved by Euro NCAP for use in its safety ratings testing. Developed by AB Dynamics’ sister company, DRI, the Soft Bicycle 360 is the latest addition to our growing portfolio of Euro NCAP‑approved test equipment.

On the approval news, Dr Andrew Pick, Business Director, Track Test Systems at AB Dynamics, commented: “Cyclist safety is increasingly under the spotlight, as the number of fatalities continues to grow across the EU. To address this, Euro NCAP has recently expanded the range of cyclist‑based test scenarios within both its passenger vehicle and HGV test programmes. As these scenarios become more complex and demanding, the industry needs test objects that are both realistic and robust. That’s why it is great to have the Soft Bicycle 360 approved by Euro NCAP, so we can help contribute to improved safety for cyclists.”

A rigorous approval process

The Soft Bicycle 360 underwent comprehensive evaluation to ensure it met Euro NCAP’s requirements. Working in collaboration with an established Euro NCAP laboratory, our engineering team supplied detailed certification data and back‑to‑back test data to verify that the target is accurate, reliable and effective in ADAS testing programmes.

Unique design features

Engineered specifically for demanding and repeatable test environments, the Soft Bicycle 360 offers several advantages over existing ADAS bicycle targets:

  • 30% lighter than comparable targets, making handling and deployment easier
  • Modular construction designed for fast, efficient rebuilds
  • Reverse‑running capability, enabling quicker repositioning and reduced test reset time

These design features help test facilities maximise efficiency on the track.
