A major Japanese vehicle manufacturer has become the first customer to take delivery of the GST 120 Plus, enabling ADAS testing at speeds of up to 130 km/h.

The delivery marks an important milestone for the GST 120 Plus, which was developed to help vehicle manufacturers validate advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) against the new high-speed testing scenarios introduced in Euro NCAP's 2026 protocols. As the only Euro NCAP-approved ADAS target platform capable of achieving these higher test speeds, the GST 120 Plus provides manufacturers with the capability needed to meet increasingly demanding safety testing requirements.
Supporting the next generation of vehicle safety testing
Euro NCAP's 2026 protocols update represents one of the most significant changes to its ratings scheme to date, introducing more than 1,200 additional test scenarios and placing greater emphasis on real-world accident conditions, including motorway and highway driving. These new requirements have increased the need for testing solutions capable of operating at higher speeds.
The first GST 120 Plus is now in operation with the Japanese OEM, while seven additional units are already scheduled for delivery. These include deployments to vehicle manufacturers, a new battery electric vehicle start-up and a major NCAP test laboratory in China.
Dr Andrew Pick, Business Director, Track Test Systems at AB Dynamics, said: "We developed the GST 120 Plus with the Euro NCAP 2026 protocols in mind. The protocols have put real pressure on manufacturers' test capability, particularly for high-speed scenarios that simply didn't exist in the previous version of the ratings scheme.
We believe this is the first ADAS test platform operating at speeds of 130 km/h to enter service with an OEM anywhere in the world. The 2026 protocols have raised the bar for the whole industry, and the early demand we're seeing shows how fast manufacturers are moving to build this high-speed capability."
Designed for high-speed Euro NCAP testing
Introduced in December 2025, the GST 120 Plus builds on the proven GST 120 platform while incorporating several enhancements to support higher-speed testing. These include increased battery capacity, the latest brushless motor technology and optimised gearing, allowing the platform to achieve the speeds required by the latest protocols.
The platform also features ABS braking on each wheel, improving stability and reducing stopping distances. By minimising the track length required for testing, the GST 120 Plus helps customers maximise the use of existing proving ground facilities. The platform can reach the standard 80 km/h test speed in less than 130 metres.
Helping customers manage growing test complexity
To support our customers facing a significant increase in testing requirements, we have developed a comprehensive library of pre-configured Euro NCAP test scenarios within its track testing software. The Euro NCAP 2026 Special Group is pre-installed on the GST 120 Plus, allowing customers to begin executing the latest high-speed test scenarios immediately.
As part of a complete ADAS testing ecosystem, the GST 120 Plus works seamlessly with AB Dynamics driving robots, targets and Synchro software. Together, these systems enable highly automated, accurate and repeatable testing of vehicles, supporting manufacturers throughout the development and validation process.
