Soft Pedestrian 360 Child approved by Euro NCAP

21.06.2026

AB Dynamics and Dynamic Research, Inc. (DRI) are delighted to announce that the Soft Pedestrian 360 Child has been approved by Euro NCAP for use in its safety ratings testing. This latest approval means AB Dynamics’ full range of ADAS targets is now authorised for official Euro NCAP testing.

Meeting evolving testing demands

Euro NCAP protocols have expanded significantly in 2026, placing greater emphasis on vulnerable road users (VRUs) and more complex scenarios. The Soft Pedestrian 360 Child supports these requirements by providing a realistic and repeatable target for testing collision avoidance and AEB systems.

Dr Andrew Pick, Business Director, Track Test Systems at AB Dynamics, commented: “Euro NCAP’s test protocols have expanded significantly in both scope and complexity in 2026. The variety of scenarios requires test teams to have an extensive range of test equipment to complete all the assessments. AB Dynamics is the only company that provides everything required for Euro NCAP testing, from targets and platforms to driving robots and control software, all designed to work together seamlessly.”

Engineered for realism

Developed by DRI, the Soft Pedestrian 360 Child is designed to accurately replicate the behaviour and sensor signature of a child pedestrian, featuring:

  • Modular, lightweight construction
  • Foam-encased components with no exposed hard points
  • Age-specific gait
  • Tuned radar and lidar reflectivity

A complete testing solution

With approval across its entire ADAS target range, AB Dynamics offers a fully integrated solution for Euro NCAP testing. Combined with our ADAS platforms, driving robots and Synchro software, customers can automate complex scenarios and achieve consistent, repeatable results.
